I've owned this book for a few years and have read it 3 times. It's an easy read that will sometimes leave you shaking your head at how much wisdom can be packed into 200 pages! I've recommended it to several friends, who have all loved it. I've given a couple of copies away to friends who not only loved it, but also recommended it to others. My copy is currently being passed around the office for all Directors and managers to read. Everyone has told me they love it so far, even the nonChristians. When people ask me how I've learned to be a good leader, I point to this book. Each time I read it, I walk away with practical application to help me.
If you want to learn how to lead better from wherever you sit in your organization, this book is for you.

Next Generation Leader edition by Andy Stanley Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
Great Read, nothing new. Great read for all the younger people to excel into leadership and service. Mentoring our next leaders. One more great book that will impact our younger people. Us older people need to read and reach out (Mentor) to the next leaders..
Great book. It will have you looking within at yourself, as you lead others as forge the future for your organisation or company.
It's a fast read with good nuggets of advice throughout.
I would encourage you to add this to your reading list if you want some fundamental yet key tips on leading efficiently and effectively.
This was a good leadership book, and had a really concrete premise get courage, competence, clarity, coachability, and character right, and you'll lead successfully. As usual, Andy Stanley's a good communicator, and there's no wondering what he means.
That said, there's nothing in here that I would call revolutionary or that completely surprised, as there was in, for example, Bill Hybel's "Axiom." This book is a very useful, solid read, but if you've been leading for any amount of time, this will probably come as a support, a reminder about some first principles, and an encouragement. I doubt that you'll be scratching your head thinking, "I never would have thought of that!" Still, the value is the many cases where you will think, "I had intuited that, but this is great to see it laid out clearly and succinctly."
This book belongs on any leader's shelf, and it won't collect dust. From here, move to Hybels, Maxwell, and the other works on leadership, and you'll be pleased.
I really enjoy his writing style and his practical way of writing. He is funny and down to earth in his writing style. The lessons he writes about, are so so powerful and interesting, and I learned SO much from this book.
It pushed me in the right direction and it has given me some tools to use in my life as a worshipper, husband and doing ministry.
This is the second book I read by Andy Stanley and I have just started the third. I am so satisfied about his books, and it is surely books that are good for young leaders because he speaks our language, we can identify with him and the things he write about.
Great book that has to be read over and over again
Would like to give this book my highest recommendations
So happy that I could enjoy this great book

This short book on leadership is quite good, broken into 5 sections covering the 5 aspects/traits of a great leader. Stanley discusses these in good detail these traits, which he feels are invaluable for a successful leader. I suggest reading the introduction (some people skip these) first, since it covers the overall topic of the book in high level. I found many new concepts here, but not having read many leadership books in the past, perhaps it's simple common sense. Andy Stanley is a world-renowned pastor and speaker, one of the best of his ilk out there (and he can write as well as speak). As such, the book centers around leadership within the church environment, but he also relates its applicability in business and personal life.
There really are only so many truths out there, and they really are never far away from us. As Dueteronomy says, truth is already in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it (3014). Stanley's strength is his stubborn refusal to over-complicate truth, which would only aid in my avoidance of applying it. "Gee, as soon I understand this, I'll start doing it."...Well, it's pretty hard to misconstrue "Get a leadership coach" , and after listening a few times, it's getting harder to ignore such a simple but hugely beneficial choice.
The beauty of listening to or reading Mr. Stanley's works is twofold the clarity is never lacking, and he communicates some other principles in his illustrations that feels like getting a getting a bonus learning principle. Somewhere along the way of learning about the 5 essentials to make me a better leader, I also learned some other life principles that would work in all areas of my life, if I am willing to apply them.
I will also add that I enjoyed the audio format. Though I usully read and make notes in the margain when undertaking books like this. Having it in audio allowed for easy repeated listenings, and I could listen on the way the work, which has been of great benefit for application. Turn off CD, get out of car and apply immediately.
